The final evaluation of the Audience of the Future (AotF) programme

The Audience of the Future (AotF) programme was launched in March 2018 with an original allocation of from UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) to support the development of creative immersive content and technologies in the UK-based creative sector.
The four year programme is supported by £39m and is comprised of three core areas of investment:
- National Centre for Immersive Storytelling,
- R&D programme, which consists of three instruments: the Production Innovation in Immersive Content, the Design Foundations 1, and the Investment Accelerator.
Innovate UK commissioned Technopolis Ltd and BOP Consulting to design and deliver an evaluation to assess the extent to which the ISCF Audience of the Future is making or has made an impact considering its original high-level objectives. The evaluation has also tested the extent to which the programme has delivered its intended outcomes and impact for industry, and the extent to which these are attributable to ISCF funding.
