The Royal Museums of Art and History (RMAH), encompassing the Art and History Museum, the Musical Instrument Museum, and the Halle Gate, fall under the management of the Belgian Federal Scientific Institutes, overseen by the Minister for Science Policy.

In a significant development, the RMAH has collaborated with Technopolis Groups to refine its research focus, leading to the creation of a comprehensive Research Strategy. This is a landmark moment for these prestigious museums, which are custodians of Belgium’s federal collections spanning antiquity, ethnography, decorative arts and crafts, and musical instruments. For the first time, they have established a set of long-term research objectives, underpinned by clearly defined values, principles, and priorities.

The RMAH Research Strategy is a roadmap for enhancing scientific research, promoting partnerships with academic entities, and ensuring continuous funding. It is a strategic approach designed to propel research into the future while honoring and preserving historical legacies.
