Michael Crompton is a monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) professional, with thematic expertise in the areas of green transitions, energy policy and climate change resilience. He has assisted in the delivery of a wide range of monitoring and evaluation projects. This has included ongoing evaluations of energy innovation-related projects for the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), such as process and impact evaluations of the Flexibility Exchange Demonstration and the Domestic and Non-Domestic Demand Side Response Competitions. He also has a strong grounding in several research areas beyond climate change, including humanitarian action, water security and risk management. He has successfully applied a variety of research methods including power analysis, interviews, surveys, case studies and literature reviews.

Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Michael worked for The Senate Group Intelligence Unit and Landell Mills. At The Senate Group, he delivered a wide range of security services, including open-source intelligence, emergency incident support and security advice to clients in the public and private sector. At Landell Mills, he supported a variety of MEL projects in international development and humanitarian action, such as an evaluation of humanitarian logistics for European Union DG ECHO, and an overarching contract for results-orientated monitoring of European Union aid interventions in Asia. 

Michael has an MSc in Climate Change, Development and Policy from Institute of Development Studies and the University of Sussex Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU). He also holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from the University of the West of England.
