Michael Crompton has a professional focus on monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) for public policy, with interests in policy interventions in the areas of climate change mitigation, low carbon development and resilience. He has assisted in the delivery of a wide range of monitoring and evaluation projects, focused on thematic evaluations for European Commission DGs ECHO & DEVCO. He also has a strong grounding in several research areas beyond climate change, including humanitarian action, water security and risk management. He has applied successfully a variety of research methods including power analysis, interviews, surveys, case studies, qualitative desk research and literature reviews.
Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Michael worked for The Senate Group Intelligence Unit and Landell Mills. At The Senate Group, he delivered a wide range of security services, including open-source intelligence, emergency incident support and security advice to clients in the public and private sector. At Landell Mills, he supported several projects within the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Division such as an evaluations of humanitarian logistics for DG ECHO, and an overarching contract for results orientated monitoring of European Union aid interventions in Asia.
Michael obtained a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from the University of the West of England. He has recently completed MSc Climate Change, Development and Policy at the institute of Development Studies and University of Sussex. He is fluent in English.
