Marius Alt is a Senior Consultant in the Frankfurt office of Technopolis Group. His expertise encompasses applied economic research and policy consultancy in the areas of environmental and climate economics, applied data science, and innovation policy. With a strong analytical background, Marius possesses skills in econometrical and statistical analysis, data science, experimental and survey methods, as well as systematic reviews.

In the recent years, Marius has successfully managed and contributed to various policy-relevant research projects for diverse stakeholders, including German Federal Ministries, the European Commission, and non-governmental organisations. He recently completed the PoliSpill project, part of the European Commission’s exploratory research programme, which examined the combination of regulatory instruments to develop more effective environmental policies. Additionally, he led two projects for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, focusing on the environmental rebound effect (LICENSE) and the governance of natural carbon sinks (GONASIP).

Before joining Technopolis Group, Marius held a position as a policy officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Italy. In this role, he primarily assessed incentive structures aimed at promoting energy efficiency and conservation. Marius obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and has authored multiple academic articles. During his doctoral studies, he also contributed to various policy reports and briefs within the Department for Environmental and Climate Economics at ZEW Mannheim. Furthermore, he gained experience as a visiting research fellow at the Rady School of Management at UCSD, establishing international research collaborations.

Marius completed his studies in Environmental Economics at the University of Copenhagen and Economics at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. He has a gained former experience in topics like public good provision, energy conservation, consumer choice analysis, and sustainable finance.  He is fluent in both German and English.
