David Heckenberg holds a Bachelor in Political Science (University of Vienna) and will obtain his master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Management (University of Twente) shortly. He joined Technopolis in November 2021.
In the area of energy and innovation policy, David has worked in the Netherlands and Austria. In the Netherlands he has led a project assessing the implementation and construction of a geothermal heating and cooling system for the hospital of Drachten (Netherlands). He has also assisted the WWF in a bilateral project between Austria and Slovakia promoting the adoption of circular economy practices in the Slovakian forestry sector. At PwC he designed and worked on an Austrian roadmap for the adoption of hydrogen technology. At a European level he was part of the project Innovate 2030 co-initiated by the German Ministry of Innovation.
Due to his American citizenship, David has been Youth Caucus leader and Executive Committee member of Democrats Abroad Austria, assisting Americans with registering for US elections and organizing civil participation initiatives.
Before joining Technopolis, he has worked as a project manager for sustainability projects at a German open innovation platform and interned at PwC.
David is fluent in German, English (both first languages), and has good knowledge of Spanish and basic knowledge of Russian.
