Daniel Holmberg has extensive experience from 20+ years in the Swedish and Nordic higher education and research sector. He has worked as a project leader at the National Agency for Higher Education and at the Swedish Ministry of Education and Research, before taking a position as a team and area manager at the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen, Sweden) where he organised and managed funding of industry-oriented research programmes at Swedish universities. During his time at the Knowledge Foundation he also earned his PhD in research policy at Lund University, Sweden, in 2012.
After earning his PhD, Daniel started working as a senior advisor at the Nordic Council of Ministers in Denmark, in charge of developing research cooperation between the Nordic countries. Among his responsibilites were negotiating and implementing strategies and activities with key actors in the Nordic countries, government officials, funding organisations and universities, among them the Nordic organisation NordForsk.
Daniel is specialised towards research funding, cross-border research cooperation, industry–academia collaboration and new and emerging higher education institutions.
Daniel has worked at Technopolis Group – Faugert & Co Utvärdering / Technopolis Sweden –since 2020 as Principal Consultant.
Daniel is fluent in Swedish and English and has an excellent understanding of Danish and Norwegian.
