Charlie Dobson is a Consultant based in the Brighton office of Technopolis Group. He works in Higher Education and Science Policy, with a focus on developing countries. Charlie has experience of applying a range of qualitative tools, including conducting interviews, literature reviews, case studies and desk research.?
Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Charlie spent the last four years at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex on an ESRC studentship where he completed an MSc in Science and Technology policy before embarking on a PhD. Charlie’s PhD, which he is currently writing up, is focused on the intersection of UK science funding policy and the international development sphere. While completing his PhD, Charlie also worked as a research assistant, mainly on the DFID funded project Political Economy of Science Granting Councils in Sub-Saharan Africa. He also undertook a teaching role in SPRU where he led seminars on the MSc module Governing and Using Technology for Development.
Before studying at SPRU, Charlie worked as a solicitor in London specialising in human rights and environmental law. Charlie holds a BA in Politics and Law from SOAS, University of London.
