Helmut Fryges is a Senior Consultant with Technopolis Group, working at the German office in Frankfurt. Prior to joining Technopolis Group, he worked at the ZEW Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany, and at the Australian Innovation Research Centre (AIRC) of the University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia. Helmut graduated with a master’s degree in economics (Diplom-Volkswirt) from the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany, and holds a PhD in economics from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany.
During his career, Helmut has been involved in research projects focussing on impact assessments of government innovation support programmes, and the analysis of private sector innovations. He has investigated innovation activities in newly founded companies, knowledge and technology transfer from universities and the private sector to start-ups, academic spin-offs, and the internationalisation process of companies. He has extensive experience and knowledge in quantitative research methods (cross-sectional and panel econometrics) as well as in survey design and data preparation of large scale data sets.
