Rita Wainess is a consultant with the Green Economy Team of the Technopolis Group, based in Brighton. She has a background in sustainable development and project management, with a particular interest in climate adaptation and mitigation, natural resources, material efficiency, circular economy, just transitions, and low-carbon development and innovation. She has applied a range of methods in evaluations and assessments, such as interviews, surveys, case studies, desk research, literature reviews, process tracing, and statistical analysis.
Rita has internationasl experience in monitoring and evaluation, document preparations (including report writing and assessment, policy analysis and briefs), leading presentations and teaching sessions, partner communications, and conference and event organization. Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Rita worked for the Erik E. and Edith H. Bergstrom Foudnation as a senior project associate, managing programmes in the human rights and devlopment field in East Africa. She has completed internships in sustainability assessments and water management in Northern Thailand, monitoring and evaluation in peacebuilding with Search for Common Ground in Washington, D.C., and communications and analytical work with the International Relations Office of the National University of Singapore.
Rita completed her MSc in Sustainable Developmet at the Science Policy Research Unit of the University of Sussex Business School, with focus on natural resources in Latin America and material efficiency policy in low carbon innovation in the UK. She received her undergraduate degree with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley in Interdisciplinary Studies: Peace and Conflict, History, and Sociology. She is fluent in English and Russian, with knowledge of French and Spanish.
