Fernanda Rios Beltrán

Fernanda is an analyst at Technopolis. She has experience in research and project coordination and management in a broad variety of areas including environmental and energy policy, sustainability transitions, rural development, innovation for sustainability and natural resources conservation. She has successfully applied a range of qualitative methods such as case studies, literature reviews, interviews, surveys and desk research.
Prior to joining Technopolis, Fernanda worked as a project officer contributing in the coordination of one of the most important global assessments about the diverse values of nature and its contributions to people at the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). During this time, she provided analytical support to experts from different disciplines worldwide and conducted several narrative and systemic literature reviews in the area of sustainable transitions, behavioural change, and the nexus between water, energy and food. Over the course of the last year, she worked in a collaborative project between the University of Sussex, the University of Johannesburg and the African centre for Technology Studies, where she conducted desk research including an in deep literature review to explore and map the different perspectives that exist about Transformative Innovation in the Sub-Saharan African Region.
Fernanda holds a M.Sc. in Energy Policy for Sustainability from the University of Sussex and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science with a focused on environmental economics and sustainable development from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. During the Bachelor´s programme she spent an exchange semester in the Institute of Natural Resources Management at the Universidad de la Frontera in Chile. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
