Heike Nachtigall has developed expertise in technology and innovation policy with a particular focus on data economy and artificial intelligence. She is experienced in a range of methods including statistical analysis, particularly on microdata, literature review and desk research.
Currently, she contributes to the evaluation of different innovation financing programs for the German Federal Ministry of Econonomic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Heike worked as a consultant for the OECD, at the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation in Paris. During this time, she focused on jobs and skills related to artificial intelligence and how these emerge on the demand side of the labour market across different countries. Previously Heike worked at the German Federal Association for the Digital Economy, as an advisor on data economy and artificial intelligence. She also worked as a student research assistant at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) where she programmed the DIW “EU-SILC Clone” dataset based on the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), offering longitudinal EU-SILC data for Germany. She wrote her Master’s thesis in cooperation with the DIW Berlin focusing on income inequality in different European countries. In the last year of her Master studies she completed an internship at the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago de Chile.
Heike obtained her Bachelor’s degree in International Business Studies from the University of Paderborn. During the Bachelor’s programme she spent an exchange semester at the Linköping University in Sweden. She obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the Free University Berlin. She is fluent in German, English and Spanish and has some knowledge of French.
