Claudia Obando Rodriguez is a Senior Consultant at Technopolis. She has experience as a policymaker and researcher. Based in the UK, Claudia’s main area of work is science and innovation policy. She has done studies and assessments for international public bodies and private organisations in STI and sustainability. She has applied quantitative and qualitative methods, including descriptive statistics, longitudinal analysis, in-depth interviews, case studies and network analysis.

Before joining Technopolis Group, Claudia worked as a research fellow at the University of Sussex. During this time, she evaluated various experiments aimed at the sustainable use of water in agriculture, sustainable and inclusive value chains in the production of lemon in Oaxaca-Mexico and Cocoa in Valle del Cauca-Colombia, and building an inclusive and sustainable waste management system in Bogotá. In this evaluation, Claudia adopted a formative evaluation approach that involved mentoring, facilitating learning and reflection and assessing the experiments‘ contribution to sustainability and systemic change. She also contributed to the development of guidelines for regional transformative innovation policy. Previously, Claudia led the implementation of different public policies and strategies ranging from fostering innovation management capabilities in firms and promoting technology-based and digital entrepreneurship for the STI and ICT ministries in Colombia.

Claudia is an economist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She holds a Master’s degree in technology and innovation management and a PhD in science and technology policy from SPRU. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
