Jonathan Puerta has over 6 years of experience in innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional economic development projects. He has worked at the non-profit and private sectors in Colombia, and internationally for academic and multilateral organisations. His experience focuses on managing multisectoral projects, coordinating multiple stakeholders, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, and preparing reports and policy briefs.

Prior to joining Technopolis, he worked as an external consultant for Portulans Institute and for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on two projects about the impact of AI policies in businesses, and about the state of AI development and adoption in Colombia, respectively. He completed an internship at the OECD’s Science & Technology Policy Division in Paris and served as a Research Assistant for the EU Horizon 2020’s PILLARS project at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU)-University of Sussex in the UK.

In Colombia, he worked for the National Industry Association of Colombia (ANDI), managing a portfolio of +5 projects in innovation, entrepreneurship, regional economic development, sustainability, productivity, and international trade, providing analysis of public policies, writing proposals and reports for national and regional public institutions, and coordinating stakeholders’ relationships. He also worked at the private sector for a corporate management consulting firm, conducting market research for several industries, writing reports, and facilitating meetings, workshops, and innovation sessions.

Jonathan has a MSc in Science and Technology Policy (Distinction) from SPRU-University of Sussex (UK), where he focused on regional industrial development and AI policy, and obtained his BSc in Business Administration from Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia). He has been awarded the Chevening Scholarship (2021) from the British government, the National Award for Young Talent (2019) from the Colombian government, and is currently a One Young Ambassador and a Global Shapers Fellow.

He has participated as a panellist in scenarios such as the One Young World Summit, the UN Global Goals Week, the COP26, and the Unilever Future of Work Summit.

Jonathan is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English, with knowledge of French and Italian.
