Ana Margarida Lopes works as a Consultant at the Technopolis Group office in Portugal.

She has over ten years of experience, with a strong background in innovation, public policy, regional development and European territorial cooperation. She has worked in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of several innovation policies and instruments in Portugal, at national, regional and sub-regional levels, and is experienced in applying qualitative and quantitative methodologies to her research, including interactive workhops and methodologies, interviews, surveys and data analysis.

Ana Margarida is the co-author of the Portuguese National Smart Specialisation Strategy 2030 (ENEI 2030), and was involved in its nationwide implementation and monitoring between 2019 and 2023. She has also contributed to several impact assessment studies and evaluations on the Portuguese R&D and innovation support programmes, including the Ex-ante Evaluation of the Partnership Agreement of Portugal under the Common Strategic Framework for the period 2014-2020.

She has also managed several European Territorial Cooperation projects, where she collaborated with more than 50 organisations from different regions in many diverse fields such as advanced manufacturing, blue economy, technology transfer, financial instruments, business acceleration services and policies, and smart specialisation.

Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Ana Margarida worked as a policy officer and project manager at ANI – Agência Nacional de Inovação. Before that, she was a board member of Sigma Team Consulting S.A., working as a strategic analyst and consultant in the areas of R&D and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Public Policy.

Ana Margarida obtained her undergraduate diploma in Economics from the University of Porto, in Portugal. She obtained a Masters degree in Innovation Management and Economics from the same university. She is a native Portuguese speaker and fluent in English and Spanish.
