Margrethe Steinert is a public policy senior consultant based in the Brussels office of Technopolis Group working within the fields of environment and circular economy, and supporting in the field entrepreneurship, innovation and regional policies. She has been and is currently involved in projects supporting evaluations and consultations, such as the review of the EU ETS and ESR (DG CLIMA), EU Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Scheme (DG ENV) and Measuring Eco-Innovation Uptake for the Eco-Innovation Observatory (DG ENV). She also has experience in stakeholder engagement activities using qualitative methods (e.g good practices, case studies, interviews, surveys) in projects such as in the Research and Knowledge building on sustainable infrastructure projects through stakeholder engagement (DG GROW), the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (DG ENV), CircLean: European Network of businesses and SMEs for industrial symbiosis (European Commission – DG GROW), and facilitated for expert discussion in the projects the Joint Research Centre’s LULUCF Virtual Workshop 2021 (JRC) and Reviewing the contribution of LULUCF to the Green Deal (DG CLIMA) .

Prior to working in Technopolis group, Margrethe worked as a project manager in the youth organisation YMCA in Norway, where she developed expertise in event management and youth leadership training. She holds a B.A and M.Phil in social anthropology from University of Oslo and graduated in 2020 with greatest distinction/summa cum laude with a MSc in European Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) with a thesis in international relations, policy analysis and EU environmental policies. During her career and studies, she has successfully applied ethnographic methods, and carried out interviews, surveys, focus groups, case studies, desk research, literature reviews, data analysis, gap analysis, stakeholder mapping, and on site and online workshops.

She is fluent in Norwegian (native), English and Spanish, can work in Danish and Swedish, and is currently learning French.
