Laura Roman is a senior consultant in public policy in the field of research and innovation policies, and measures to foster entrepreneurship ecosystems. Thematically, Laura also has a keen interest in the field of circular economy. 

At Technopolis Group, Laura has been managing policy analysis and evaluation projects, specialising in reviews of innovation systems, at European, national and regional levels. Currently, Laura is coordinating the work on fostering cross-regional collaboration on entrepreneurial ecosystems for European Entrepreneurial Regions for DG GROW, and contributing to the impact assessment of institutionalised European Partnerships under Horizon Europe. Previously, she supported the work of the panel of experts of the H2020 Policy Support Facility specific support activity for Romania (2016-2018), having co-authored the background analysis of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the country. In addition, she contributed to a feasibility study for introducing an EBRD innovation financing facility in Romania. Further projects include the assessment Urban Agenda for the EU for DG REGIO, and the mid-term evaluation of COSME Programme for DG GROW, where she coordinated the review of action lines targeting clusters, improved framework conditions for SMEs and innovation. In the field of circular economy, Laura has contributed to the CIRCTER project, a study mapping the territorial dimension of the circular economy funded by ESPON. She was also project coordinator of a market analysis and policy study on industrial symbiosis practices and policies in EU, funded by DG GROW.

Laura previously worked with a Member of the European Parliament providing policy advice on the work of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. She also completed a traineeship with the European Commission, working with the Thematic Coordination and Innovation Unit of DG REGIO on fostering green growth and innovation through structural funds. 

Laura obtained her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, Romania with an exchange year at the University of Trier in Germany. She obtained her master’s degree in public policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, focusing on Economics, Welfare and Sustainability. Laura is a native Romanian speaker and is fluent in English, has an advanced knowledge of German and is currently improving her French language skills.
