Gonzalo Castellanos is an associated consultant of Technopolis Group. He has accumulated expertise in the field of entrepreneurship and regional innovation policies, with a particular interest in the design and implementation of smart specialisation strategies in the Latin American context.
Currently, Gonzalo is assigned to the execution of INNOVACT II, a project which promotes the exchange of experiences between the European Union and Latin America in the field of regional development. He is also collaborating in the design of a pilot instrument to support the development of sectoral public goods that impact clusters competitiveness in Colombia. His contribution as a consultant derive from the rigorous application of quantitative and qualitative research tools such as case studies, desk
research, survey design and statistical analysis.
Throughout the course of his multidisciplinary professional career, Gonzalo founded technology startups, advised corporations on digital innovation and worked at subnational governments in Bolivia. While being a public official, he led the development of business accelerators, seed funds and other policy instruments to foster the emergence of local dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Gonzalo earned a degree in Economics from Juan Misael Saracho University (BO), a Master in Innovation Management from the University of Manchester (UK) and received executive training on leadership and competitiveness at Georgetown University (USA). He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
