Lisa Nieth, PhD, is a Principal Consultant at Technopolis Germany with experience in the field of international, European and German public policy, specifically related to (Higher)Education, International and regional development as well as overall STI policy. She has led and contributed to a great variety of national and international research studies, evaluations and impact assessments for international, European and national public bodies including the European Commission, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMF). Lisa is primarily a project manager and qualitative practitioner with over 10 years of experience in setting up evaluations and using techniques such as logic models, interviews, focus groups, case/benchmarking studies and analysis and reporting.
Current and recent work includes the evaluation of the GIZ’s cooperation with the scientific community (lead, GIZ), a study on the R&I cooperation potential between Latin America and Germany (lead, BMBF), the evaluation of the strategy for the internationalisation of education, research and innovation of the German Government (co-lead, BMBF), a study providing methodological support for the HE Sector Observatory (team member, EC), an evaluation of the Bavarian Cluster Offensive (lead, StMWi). Lisa is the Technopolis lead of the STI Working Group, encouraging internal and external knowledge creation and exchange with a focus on STI policy. Within the German office, she leads the higher education group as well as the regional development group.
Prior to joining Technopolis, Lisa successfully defended her PhD within a Marie Curie Innovative Training Network at the Center for Higher Education Policy at the University of Twente. Her PhD project -conducted in the Netherlands, Portugal & Denmark – focused on the role of universities in regional innovation policies and the ways individual academics contribute to regional development processes. She has published in major journals in the related field.
Before her PhD, Lisa worked in Santiago de Chile as a project manager and consultant for innovation and strategic partnerships. During this time, she was part of several projects for the Chilean Economic Development Agency and diverse international bodies such as the Interamerican Development Bank and World Bank.
Lisa obtained her double degree (BA and MA) in International Management and Intercultural Studies at the University of Stirling (UK) and the University of Passau (Germany). She is a native German speaker, is fluent in English and Spanish and has basic knowledge of French and Dutch.
