Annemieke van Barneveld-Biesma is a Senior Consultant at Technopolis Group, based in Amsterdam with over ten years of experience in policy research and advice. Annemieke conducts research and provides advice on the interplay between science, technology and innovation with social policies. Her work covers learning, working, empowerment and equality as they relate to digital transitions, the green economy and regional developments. Annemieke is particularly interested in supporting organisations and communities to adapt to new technologies, assess their programmes, and expand their partnerships.

Having conducted over 50 studies, Annemieke has obtained extensive experience with monitoring, evaluating and mapping policies and practices as well as developing scenarios for future options, notably as they relate to governance structures, resources and involving stakeholders. In her work she regularly makes use of her international experience to apply lessons learned in other countries.

Annemieke is an experienced project manager, with an eye for complementarity of research methods. Annemieke generally uses a qualitative approach to the research, notably through interviews, focus groups, surveys, case studies and documentation reviews. Her experience in this regard is that the early development of structure in the data collection (templates, protocols, coding) enhances the quality of the research and notably the overall analysis.

Prior to Technopolis Group, Annemieke worked on social policies at Ecorys, a consultancy specialising in economic analysis in Rotterdam (Netherlands). Before that she worked in Brussels for RB & Partners on international trade policies, especially in relation to the development of bio-energy. Annemieke started her career in 2008 at the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium supporting the climate for foreign direct investment. Annemieke obtained her degrees focusing on economic and social development from the University of Virginia (USA) and the University of Bath (UK). Annemieke speaks English and Dutch fluently and has advanced knowledge of Spanish.
