This report is one of a series of documents produced as part of the European Commission’s service contract for “Monitoring the evolution and benefits of responsible research and innovation” MoRRI.

The present report firstly provides a list of possible RRI benefits along five RRI dimensions, and then further divided into democratic, economic, and societal benefits, as well as potential benefits for science and research itself. Second, the report presents a preliminary assessment of the quality and availability of quantitative and qualitative empirical evidence on RRI benefits. Third, the logical links between RRI dimensions and applicable benefits are elaborated. Finally, an estimation of the economic effects of RRI as indicated in the case studies is given.
