Frédéric João Maier
Frédéric Maier is Technopolis Group’s Lead consultant for activities in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has developed expertise in public policy analysis and evaluation, with a particular interest in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and sustainable regional development. He facilitates evidence-based policy making for regional, national ministries and agencies, European and international organisations.
In the course of his professional career, Frédéric has contributed to the delivery of over 50 public policy consultancy projects, applying successfully a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods (i.e. interviews, surveys, case studies, desk research, literature reviews, statistical analysis, benchmarking studies), evaluation methodologies and policy analysis and recommendations. He handles managerial positions and coordinates highly international teams.
A snapshot of his recent assignments include: the deisgn of a Roadmap for Blue Bioeconomy in Europe (DG MARE); impact evaluations of ERDF Operational Programmes (in Belgium, Portugal, Spain); the review of the EU Social Progress Index (DG REGIO); Policy Advice service requests in Latin America as part of the International Cooperation Framework Contract (DG RTD).
Keeping tight links with the academic world, Frédéric teaches an annual seminar on public policy evaluation methodologies at the University of Strasbourg. He holds a Master’s degree in “Macroeconomics and European Policies” from the University of Strasbourg and a Master’s degree in “European Economic Integration and Business” from the College of Europe.
Frédéric is French and Portuguese, and also fluent in Spanish and English.
