Annika Kossack has experience in the management of business and innovation projects in the areas of SME competitiveness, innovation and research. Due to her prior experience working in the European Commission, she has developed a sound understanding of the EU grant and procurement landscape (COSME, H2020). Furthermore, she has contributed to evaluations and impact assessments on both European and national level (German Federal Ministries and other public bodies).
Annika Kossack acts as a contact point for the EOSCsecretariat.eu project (DG RTD, 2019- 2021), comprised of 11 partners and worth million 9 996 500 EURO. It aims to provide structured support to the governance of the European Opens Science Cloud. She also regularly contributes to the media analysis of economic forecasts (DG ECFIN) by supporting in the review of the press coverage (German, Austrian, Dutch Press). Moreover, she also conducted desk research on EU-level policies relative to (sustainable) tourism and EDEN awards (European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) Awareness Raising and Promotion of EDEN Destination (DG GROW).
Before joining Technopolis, she worked as a consultant in the framework of the EU programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME). During her academic studies, she gained valuable experience in a large German Multinational Company where she supported the team in the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Having also gained experience in public consultancies in Germany solidified her ambition to work at the interface between society and business.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick (UK) and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and International Organization from the University of Groningen (NE).
She was born and raised in Johannesburg (South Africa) and is fluent in English, German and Dutch and has working knowledge of Spanish and a fair understanding of French.
