Jeroen is a Senior Consultant at Technopolis Group, based in Amsterdam. He has over fourteen years of experience in conducting strategic studies, impact assessments and programme/project management in the areas of science and higher education, international cooperation, private sector development and culture. Since joining Technopolis, Jeroen has conducted policy studies and evaluations for a range of regional, national and European public authorities, as well as for international organisations (i.e. UNESCO, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Commission, Netherlands Enterprise Agency, Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology, UNESCAP).
Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Jeroen worked as a senior programme coordinator for the capacity development department at Nuffic (2010-2013), the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education. In this position, he was responsible for high level negotiations with national authorities and officials, the Royal Netherlands Embassy and other international donors, to identify new areas of collaboration based on the bi-lateral cooperation agenda, tendering and contracting, and the supervision of project implementation.
Subsequently, he worked for 4 years as a self-employed advisor and project leader for different (inter)national organisations; e.g. Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Flemish Interuniversity Council for University Development Cooperation, VU University Amsterdam, Finnish Agency for Internationalisation of Education. He executed feasibility studies on bi-lateral collaboration between Dutch and Flemish post-secondary education institutes and developing countries in Africa and Latin America. He collaborated in proposal writing for international research projects and has organised international seminars and conferences.
Before starting his career in the Netherlands, Jeroen lived for 6 years in Peru where he worked as a university teacher, cultural producer and communication advisor for several research and cultural institutions. It was in that period that he started to develop a broad international network and strong intercultural skills.
Jeroen is able to use a wide range of qualitative research methods (such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, peer reviews, stakeholder consultations and participative workshops), combined with quantitative data collection. He holds a MA in Cultural Studies from VU University Amsterdam and a BSc Communication from ITV Hogeschool Utrecht. He is fluent in Dutch (mother tongue), English and Spanish.
