Maialen Perez
Senior Consultant
Maialen Perez is a senior consultant based at the Brussels office of Technopolis Group. She has developed expertise in public policies with a particular interest in digital, industrial, innovation and entrepreneurial policies. She is familiar with both qualitative and quantitative methods of policy analysis, such as desk research, interviews, case studies, and surveys. She also works on communication activities and stakeholder platforms.
She is part of the core team of
Intelligent Cities Challenge (DG Grow), bringing together 136 cities worldwide
to achieve intelligent, socially responsible and sustainable growth. She is
also involved in the Advanced Technologies for Industry project (DG Grow) where
she is preparing diverse policy briefs and product reports on topics such as
how digital policies can support the transition to a low carbon economy or
flexible electronics.
Until recently, she also supported the
Basque Innovation Agency (Innobasque) in monitoring the latest trends in
European and international R&I policies.In the past, she has been in charge
of supervising the European Resource Efficiency Knowledge Centre – EREK (DG
Grow).
Prior to joining Technopolis Group in
December 2017, Maialen worked one year for the Delegation of the Basque Country
to the European Union in Brussels. During this time, she was involved with the
European policies on International Trade, Research and Development, Innovation,
Economy and Industry. She collaborated with different international networks in
which the Basque Country was a member such as the Vanguard Initiative.
Maialen is at the moment studying a Msc in
European Integration at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and her Master
Thesis focuses on Smart Cities in Europe and how they can support the
achievement of the 2050 climate neutrality objectives of the European
Commission.Before that Maialen obtained a B.A. Business Administration from the
University of the Basque Country (Spain), she also studied for a year at the
Hochschule fur Wirstchaf und Recht in Berlin (Germany) as part of the Erasmus
Programme. She has an MBA in Business Administration and Advanced Research from
Mondragon Unibertsitatea (Spain) and a postgraduate degree in
Internationalization of Business from the University of the Basque Country. She
is fluent in Spanish, Basque and English and is learning French.
