Jérôme Treperman is Managing Partner at Technopolis Group and Managing Director/Geschäftsführer of the German subsidiary, heading its Berlin office. He has 10 years of experience in strategic support to public sector clients in the areas of research and innovation, focusing on policy analysis, impact assessment and evaluation. Jérôme has a particular interest in policies aiming to enable academia-industry collaboration, strengthen innovative SMEs & startups and encourage international research & innovation cooperation.
He is an experienced project manager for clients including the European Commission (DG RTD, DG Grow, DG Connectl, DG EAC), the German Federal Government (BMBF, BMWi) as well as international organisations such as the World Bank.
Jérôme has delivered several projects on international R&I cooperation, such as providing an overview of international R&I cooperation between EU Member States and Third Countries as well as assessing basic principles for effective international R&I cooperation agreements (DG RTD). Since 2017, Jérôme co-manages Technopolis Group’s contribution to DG RTD’s Service Facility in Support of the Strategic Development of International R&I Cooperation between the EU and Third Countries. He currently leads a two-year DG RTD initiative to support innovation cooperation between Europe and India, particularly between startup incubators and accelerators. Since 2019, he is the Project Director for the Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership.
In the SME & startup policy domain, Jérôme’s track record includes three evaluations of the €300m Hightech-Gründerfonds seed-stage VC fund, that is co-funded by the German government (BMWi) as well as leading German corporates. At the European level, his experience includes the final evaluation of the Enterprise Europe Network 2008-2014 as well as the Interim Evaluation of COSME (both DG GROW). Jérôme recently completed the accompanying evalaution of the KMU-NetC pilot programme (BMBF), aiming to increase participation of weakly R&D-intensive SMEs in strong joint research projects with industry and academia.
Jérôme’s recent work on digital policy includes the DG Connect Data4Policy study of big data and other innovative data-driven approaches for evidence-informed policy making, in collaboration with the Oxford Internet Institute and CEPS.
Jérôme holds an M.Sc. in Macroeconomic Policy and Finance from the Goethe University Frankfurt and a B.Sc. in Economics from the Université de Montréal. He is fluent in German, English, and French.
