This study was an impact assessment of utility model legislation in Europe. In particular, it included an analysis of how this type of patent-like IPR instrument supports incremental innovation. It also scrutinised usage of utility models (motives, barriers) in Europe. We drafted recommendations for the EU and the EC on how to further deal with the topic of utility models at European level.
