Juan Carlos Salazar is the Director of Technopolis Group Colombia

Juan Carlos has worked both as a public servant and as a provider of consulting services to national and regional government institutions and to multilateral and bilateral development agencies. He has advised decision makers on a range of public policy issues such as education, scientific and technological development, innovation, competitiveness, regional development, poverty reduction and institutional capacity building, as well as developed and led specific initiatives in support of these policy objectives.

Built over the course of the last 25 years, Juan Carlos’ professional experience lies in the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies, especially in the Colombian context. Juan Carlos’ primary role in these efforts has been to direct and coordinate a variety of social actors such as national and regional governments, multilateral and bilateral agencies, NGO’s, universities, research centres, and consultancy firms.

He has a multidisciplinary academic background in areas related to social, economic and environmental challenges facing developing countries, particularly Colombia.  He earned a Civil Engineering degree, and holds an MSc degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics (LSE), and an MBA from the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). He is a PhD candidate in economics at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

His policy recommendations are derived from a rigorous analytical methodology that employs an interdisciplinary approach to understanding and synthesizing problems while bringing a passionate commitment to delivering creative and strategic solutions to clients.
