Hugh Reed is a consultant at Technopolis Group based in the Brighton office. He holds an MSC in Sustainable Innovation from the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex and a BA in Sociology, from the University of Sussex. He has experience in international development, HIV/AIDS health programmes, renewable energy policy and business development, and online news media platforms. His particular interest is sustainable development and livelihoods. Hugh has worked with UN agencies, the World Health Organisation, UK and Dutch foreign ministries, as well as major NGOs and international donors. Some of his previous work has involved designing an online news platform to counter social media ‘echo chambers’, solar energy policy research, developing an advocacy strategy to engage a global response to HIV drug resistance, and supporting evaluations of HIV programme responses for vulnerable populations.
Hugh has experience in social research methods: questionnaire, survey and interview design, and has carried out case studies of off-grid communities and a solar cooperative. He is trained in statistical analysis and has experience in programme evaluation using for example Theory of Change methodology.
