Frédéric Maier is an economist and consultant based in the Brussels office of Technopolis Group. He has developed expertise in public policy analysis and evaluation, with a particular interest in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), Regional Development and Energy. Frédéric has over 4 years of experience in facilitating evidence-based policy making for local, regional and international organisations such as regional development agencies and the European Commission.
Frédéric has been acting as project deputy-manager of a large research consortia for “Monitoring the evolution and benefits of Responsible Research and Innovation” (MoRRI) for DG RTD and has been supporting the development of the Vanguard Initiative Pilot for “Advanced Manufacturing for Energy Related Applications in Harsh Environments”. Presently, Frédéric is leading the elaboration of a roadmap for the Blue Bioeconomy Forum initiated by DG MARE and EASME.
Frédéric is also part of Technopolis Group’s team of consultants actively engaged in the Latin American market. Recent assignments include: R&I Policy Advice services in Central America to promote regional integration in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through R&I, and; the study for the design and future development of the Ecuadorian Coast Innovation Zone (ZILE), launched by the Inter-American Development Bank.
Frédéric holds both a Master’s degree in “Macroeconomics and European Policies” from the University of Strasbourg (France) and a Master’s degree in “European Economic Integration and Business” from the College of Europe (Belgium).
Frédéric is French and Portuguese, and also fluent in Spanish and English.
