Billy Bryan is a consultant at Technopolis Group. He has experience in higher education policy with an expertise in medical and doctoral education. Prior to joining Technopolis Group, Billy completed his PhD in Medical Education at Sheffield Medical School. This involved designing and delivering a new faculty teaching strategy for improved feedback in clinical education, which significantly improved medical students’ self-direction and confidence in hospital settings. He was the project lead for Sheffield Students’ Union’s official response to the DofE Doctoral Loans consultation (late 2016) and served on the Union’s trustee board, contributing to the newest 18-year strategy focusing on long term success. His project on ‘Doctoral Value’ attracted attention from UKCGE, who created a two-day policy event around the research (June 2017).
Billy has gained extensive experience in a wide range of research skills, such as: statistical analysis; surveys; interviews; focus groups; literature reviews and various qualitative methods of analysis. Billy has a PhD in Medical Education from The University of Sheffield Medical School and obtained his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Sheffield Hallam University. He has a higher education teaching qualification (Certificate for Learning and Teaching in HE) and has taught and assessed medical students across classroom and clinical settings. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) he has a comprehensive understanding of teaching and leadership in higher education.
