Technopolis to assess future EU Environmental Technologies Action Plan

As a follow up of the 2004 ETAP (Environmental Technologies Action Plan) a new Eco-Innovation Action Plan is now under development.

In order to improve the development, dissemination and promotion of environmental technologies in Europe the EC started ETAP (Environmental Technologies Action Plan) in 2004. For the next five years ETAP should be broadened and include not only environmental technologies, but all environmental innovations. A new Eco-Innovation Action Plan is now under development and Technopolis was asked by DG Environment to assess the possible impacts of this new plan.

Together with the Wuppertal Institute Technopolis will in the next three months assess the rationale for the intervention at EU level, based on the 'systems of innovation' approach. Various options will be developed (including a 'no action' option) and analysed. Evaluations and other experiences from a large number of EU and national environmental innovation programmes will be used in the assessment. Workshops with stakeholders and representatives of Member States will be included in the project.
