The German office of Technopolis was established in 2009 in the former university quarter in Frankfurt/ Main. Since 2017, Technopolis also has an office in Berlin in close proximity to many of our clients from various federal ministries and agencies.
Our growing team in Germany has unique expertise in the fields of science, technology and innovation policy. We develop in-depth analyses as well as studies and carry out evaluations and monitoring activities of policy programmes. In many of our projects, consulting on overarching strategies as well as concrete steps to implement policy measures are integral parts of our work.
Our experience and reference projects include various areas of the innovation system:
In addition, we have worked on aspects such as public procurement as an innovation policy instrument, “Responsible Research and Innovation” (such as science education, citizen participation and governance) and data-based methods for evidence-based policy making (Big Data).
Since spring 2017, the national bureau of the business initiative “Smart Living”, supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, is located in our Berlin office (www.smart-living-deutschland.de).
The majority of our clients are German public institutions, such as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi), the German Federal Foreign Office, but also institutions such as the Federal Environmental Agency or the German Institute for Standardisation.
We also work (often in cooperation with our other European offices) for a wide range of international organisations, such as Directorates-General of the European Commission or the World Bank.
The approach for our studies, evaluations and strategic consulting projects usually combines qualitative research methods such as interviews, workshops, focus groups, panel discussions, foresight methods and scenario design with quantitative analysis methods of primary and secondary data.
Due to our broad expertise, our staff is regularly invited as guest lecturers and speakers at various talks and conferences.
Patries Boekholt and Dr. Daniel Schütze are the directors of Technopolis Deutschland GmbH. Thomas Heimer is the Scientific Director.
