Technopolis Group Belgium is celebrating 15 years in 2019. Since we opened in 2004 with two consultants, the office has grown in terms of human resources as well as the scale and scope of our assignments.

Our international team of motivated, creative and highly skilled consultants provide comparative policy research, policy design and evaluation and monitoring services to the European institutions, as well as regional, national and international organisations. Our Brussels-based consultants are thought leaders in the areas of:

Our staff has extensive experience in designing and managing policy and analytical online monitoring platforms. We built and operated the first major European-wide policy monitoring platforms such as the European Innovation TrendChart and ERAWATCH and continue this strand today with the Eco-Innovation Observatory and the monitoring of the digital transformation in Europe (Digital KETS). We lead the Policy Support Facility and provide the secretariat for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). We have additional expertise in delivering and evaluating communication strategies principally in the innovation and environmental fields.

Our experts helped design regional, smart specialisation strategies in a number of territories such as Poland, Estonia, Greece, or Lithuania. We provide operational advice and training for programme design and technical assistance and setting up evaluation and monitoring systems. We are also involved in analysing and developing inter-regional research and innovation co-operation (such as recent work on advanced manufacturing for the ‘Vanguard Initiative’ regions). In our Digital Cities Challenge project, we help more than 40 European cities to develop and implement digital policies that can transform day to day life.

The Brussels’ team is recognised for its evaluation and impact assessment practice and capacity to design and deliver complex, multi-country studies on the business and environmental impact of policies, legislation, programmes and research and technology organisations. While most of our work is carried out for European level clients, we also undertake evaluation studies for associations. Recent assignments cover topics as diverse as the evaluation of the #InvestEU campaign, assistance to the Summertime Directive public consultation or the evaluation of COST.

Agis Evrigenis leads the Brussels team, supported by Viola Peter, Deputy Director.
