Sirin Elci
Sirin Elci is the founder and director of Technopolis Group Turkey. She has a professional experience of 18 years, around 14 in the field of science, technology and innovation. Prior to joining Technopolis she worked as a manager for the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey where she mainly dealt with the design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of the R&D and innovation programmes, and the formulation and implementation of the regional and national policies and programmes.
During her career, she has taken part in the EC projects and programmes, provided advice and support to the World Bank, OECD and the UN in international, national and regional projects, and a variety of government departments and organisations in Turkey and in the EU. She has also actively taken part in international and national networks and task forces including those of the Association for Technology Implementation in Europe (TAFTIE). She is the national correspondent for the Inno-Policy TrendChart and ERAWATCH initiatives of the EC.
Sirin also carries out activities to raise awareness on and create a culture of innovation in Turkey, and her recent efforts yielded the integration of innovation in the national education curricula, and the initiation of innovation programmes in various education institutes and public bodies. She has published three books and other publications on innovation and research innovation strategies.
She is the Secretary General of Innovation Association and a member of the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT), the International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM) and Turkish National Innovation Initiative.
Sirin holds B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering and M.S. Degree in Science and Technology Policy Studies, both from the Middle East Technical University, and Associate of Science in MBA from the American Management and Business Administration Institute.
