Marie Zeller works as an analyst in the Berlin office of Technopolis Group. She is experienced in diverse research methods including both quantitative as well as qualitative analysis, such as statistical data analysis, case studies, expert interviews and desk research, amongst others. 

Marie is is particularly interested in the science-policy interface in the area of climate and environment.  She works as a scientific advisor for the German government’s Expert Council on Climate Issues (Expertenrat für Klimafragen). Germany set itself legally binding targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in seven sectors (energy, industry, buildings, transport, agriculture and waste) and the Expert Council evaluates the sectoral emissions data and the assumptions underlying climate action programmes, in case the sectoral targets are missed. In addition, Marie works on national and international projects in the field of green economy, environmental and climate policy. At the moment, she works on a project on sustainable aviation fuels for the Hessian Centre of Competence for Climate, Environment and Noise Protection in Aviation (CENA) and most recently, she conducted a mapping study in the field of resource efficiency for the Carl Zeiss Foundation. 

Prior to joining Technopolis, she worked at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research and conducted research on atmospheric processes during polar night in the Arctic. She gained experiences in the analysis of European and international climate policy working for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as an intern in the Brussel’s office. She worked a research assistant and tutor for the Chair of Comparative Political Economy at the University of Konstanz. 

Marie holds a master’s degree in Physics with a focus on Climate Physics from the University of Potsdam with a thesis at the Alfred Wegener Institute. She obtained two bachelor’s degrees, one in Physics and one in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz. During her bachelors she studied one semester in Sweden at the University of Uppsala and wrote her thesis at the Climate Service Center in Hamburg. Marie speaks fluently German, English, Spanish and French.
